Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on the World Energy and Food Commodity Prices: Implications for Global Economic Growth

The negative socio-economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic are widely discussed. However, relatively less attention is paid to its impact on world commodity price formation including energy and food prices. aim this paper examine prices their interactions with Using World Bank data we look for evidence changes in caused by occurrence pandemic, which was assumed be a shock global economy terms both supply demand. Based series analysis indices prices, it evident that after outbreak especially oil plummeted. Food followed same direction; however, plunge much extreme. In general, can concluded severe clearly had economic growth, but scale differs depending type sector countries’ net export positions trade.
